Relief Sheet Metal

In the corner relief propertymanager under scope select the sheet metal body to which to apply the corner relief. In sheet metal a bend relief is an incision cut along the sides of a planned bend.

Click the create relief tool button on the sheet metal ribbon tab. To eliminate this a bend relief is added so the edge of the sheet metal is perpendicular to the bend. Choose create relief in the sheet metal menu. Click corner relief sheet metal toolbar or insert sheet metal corner relief.
Preventing tearing and part deformation during the bending process. This is due to excessive localized stresses from the work hardening forces imposed on the metal. Bends in sheet metal are manufactured using sheet metal brakes. Type smreliefcreate in the command bar.
Each corner of the t is at risk of tearing if the relevant line segment is bent without proper bend relief. Select an item see the note below. When sheet metal makes a transition from a bend to a flat surface or to another bend it tends to rip and tear. The corner relief is applied at the common intersection point of the bend lines.
For example if you make a partial flange as above using all the defaults the software makes relief cuts at the end of the bends as shown to the right. Enter relief size by bend radius ratio or force bend reliefs. The model must have three bends where the bend lines meet. When designing parts for laser cutting one should not make holes smaller than the thickness of the material.
In general a minimum bend relief is equal to the material thickness plus the inside bend radius. Select a hard edge bend face flange face or 3d solid entire model.
