Removing One Sliding Door
A second common reason for removing the panel is to replace the entire sliding glass door unit.
Removing one sliding door. The most common reason is damage to the glass. Replacing the entire panel is often an easier task than replacing the glass pane contained within the panel. Slip a flathead screwdriver under the wheels and push them upwards as you lift. The fixed door usually has a threshold which may need to be removed.
Removing a fixed sliding glass door panel is primarily done for one of two reasons. Step 1 unscrew the interior casing or trim since sliding doors are generally heavy with a considerable width of six to eight feet you might need to ask for help from a friend when lifting it out. Removing a sliding patio door is only moderately challenging but by using the tools and steps below you can remove one with little difficulty. Remove the screw or screws with a philips screwdriver or cordless drill.
3 removing the stationary door the stationary door is the one usually behind the sliding door when viewed from inside. Then use your screwdriver to unscrew the head stop located at the top of the door frame. To remove a sliding screen door find the screws at the bottom corners and unscrew them with a screwdriver. This door will have to be removed if for some reason such as raised flooring you cannot remove the sliding door from inside the house.
