Repair Leak By Awning

Repair leak by awning. Step 2 spread vinyl glue on both surfaces and allow it to dry then position the patch over the torn area. Step 2 clean any grime and or rust off the aluminum awning with a wire block brush to have a clean surface for the patch to stick against. Wash the awning with a mixture of warm water. Depending on the size of the leak there are a few methods for fixing cloth awnings.
Wash the leaking area and after it dries apply a line of polyether sealant to cracks or gaps in the awning. If it is a light colored fabric use the white silicone caulk for the repair. First lay the awning on a flat surface and then using the repair tape cover one side of the leaking area with multiple strips. Clean the area surrounding the leak.
Put a dab of the silicone caulk on your finger. However you may want to take a repair kit shown below with you on holiday in case a leak does happen. Use a sealant that is uv resistant exterior grade and designed for seams and metal. The surface must be free of dirt grease oil rust tar and any other contaminant that will inhibit a proper seal.
Check the awning fabric for holes. Fix a tear in a vinyl patio awning by attaching a patch of vinyl with similar size and weight characteristics as the awning. The two surfaces should bond immediately. Make sure the awning fabric is clean and free of mildew before repairing the holes.
Most leaks under the awning come from that joint and are an easy fix by adding caulk to the joint. The sealant will fill the crack as it dries and plug the leak. However if that air tube is still under warranty when you get back you should contact kampa vango or the retailer you purchased the air awning from for a replacement air tube. Put leather gloves on to protect from cuts while working with the aluminum awning.
