Repairing Door Frame Hinge

Unscrew the loose screws and remove the hinge from on top of the stripped holes.

Repairing door frame hinge. Try tightening the hinges which can loosen up over time causing the door to sag. Open the door wide and insert a wedge under the bottom outside corner to level it. If the hinge and jamb are painted cut the paint around the leaf with a utility knife swing the leaf away from the jamb.

The wrong way is a temporary fix not cool. Squeeze a drop of carpenter s glue into each loose hole then push about 3 wooden matches or toothpicks into the hole or enough to fill it and snap the excess wood off. Take care not to damage the stop as you remove it from the frame. After time the weight of the door will pull on the hinge and cause the door not to hang straight.

Fix it the right way not the wrong way. How you fix the steel door hinge depends on the amount of damage to the screw threads. Screw the hinge back into place after the glue is dry. If a door binds open it grasp the knob and lift up to see if a hinge is loose.
