Just wanted to check if we can replace the garage door with brick wall and windows without building regulations approval or not. Is a permit required to change the door to a wall with a window. But the old garage door was not changed. With someone holding the outside window frame remove screws from the inside retainer.
Insert the new glass panes. As with any new door installation the edges and air gaps should be insulated and sealed with spray foam and caulk. Pull the inside retainer out of the door. With someone holding the outside window frame reinsert the screws into the inside retainer securing the glass.
We brought the house 2yrs back and when we bought it the garage was converted into habitable space with carpet heating lights and window. The foam sheets should be nailed to the wall studs. Carefully remove any broken or old glass. Use a utility knife to cut the foam sheet to fit the wall.
As part of the garage conversion it is likely that the original garage door will be in filled with a new wall and possibly a window or door. The first step in converting a garage is to remove the door and build a wall. Garage door torsion springs mounted above the door are under high tension and can unwrap with great force.
